	3' x 5' Third National Confederate Flag A problem developed with the use of the Second National Flag in that, when there was little or no wind and the flag was hanging limp, it resembled the flag of truce at a distance. So, in March of 1865, the Confederate government adopted the Third National Flag which featured a verticle red bar on the fly end. It is still the official flag of the Confederate government since Jefferson Davis never surrendered that government to the Yankee invaders.
